9th World Kung Fu Championships

Donation protected

Thanks for taking the time to check out my fundraiser!

I am working towards international events this year in particular the World Kungfu Championships in China in August 2023 (WKFC 2023). I recently qualified for the GB Competition Squad, it’s a global event with a large presence of athletes and teams and spectators. This would be my biggest event to date, I will be competing in Imitation Styles and Long Weapons categories.

I'm a dedicated athlete who has been training for over 10 years, I'm really pleased to have the opportunity to showcase the skills I've learnt and practiced, and of course to reach my goal of competing at a world event.

The event takes place in Chengdu, China, August 23rd - 28th and is expected to cost around £3000. Since there is rarely any funding available the only option is to self-fund. So, I thought I would attempt a fundraise, to assist with covering some of the competition costs, including travel, equipment and training costs.
If you even felt able to contribute a small amount it really would be appreciated and go a significant way to helping me get to China!

A bit more about my training:

To pursue a passion like wushu you have to be determined and motivated.
I was never one for running on the treadmill or going to the gym and I had never found something I wanted to give a lot of time and energy to.
However, 11 years ago I was introduced to Chinese Martial Arts at a local club and was pretty much hooked!

As you can imagine it’s brought incredible benefits to my life, making me an all-round healthier and happier person than I was. I’ve also had loads of cool experiences and opportunities like competing, performing, coaching and training in China as well. None of which I ever considered possible before getting involved with the sport.

I train twice a week at Lee Valley Athletics Centre with my coach and teammates. With competition and squad commitments I also have regular weekend training sessions coming up in Derby and Liverpool. Then of course in my own time I work on strength, conditioning and stretching daily.

The next confirmed competition is July 8th in Derby (British Wushu Nationals) and I am looking to do one in June too in Milan. That will be confirmed soon.

2023 is definitely shaping up to be a good year, really appreciate you taking the time to read this page. You’re likely to be a family member, friend, or supporter. I’ll also say a big thanks for the ongoing support and encouragement, that makes it all possible in the first place!

Special thanks to my coach Ivo Arsts.
