On Sunday, September 22nd, 2019, the eighth annual "Arts Below Sunrise" community event will take place along a closed section of Broadway between the Hewlett-Woodmere Public Library in Hewlett and Irving Place in Woodmere. Arts Below Sunrise includes S.T.E.A.M.* activities. (*Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math), live music, artists, dancers, demonstrations, craft, and food vendors and an overall festive atmosphere for all ages. It's the biggest street festival in the Five Towns!
The festival is organized by the Hewlett-Woodmere Public Schools Endowment Fund (HWPSEF) and staffed by community volunteers from the HWPSEF, the Hewlett High School and Woodmere Middle School Youth Leadership Forum, Hewlett-Woodmere Business Association, Trinity-St. John's Church, Hewlett-Woodmere Public Library, School District 14, Hewlett and Woodmere Fire Departments, Auxiliary Police and supporters from our neighborhood.
The HWPSEF is an independent organization of alumni, families, and friends of Hewlett-Woodmere Public Schools. It is designed to establish an endowment through fundraising that will provide a continuing and sustainable source of support for projects to enrich the learning experience of all Hewlett-Woodmere Public Schools' students. Arts Below Sunrise is our largest yearly fundraising event.
