Artists for Hope

Artists for Hope is a charity concert event in which all proceeds are gifted to a chosen local organization that makes a positive impact in our community. Entering its 6th year, AFH is embracing the virtual dance world and transitioning from a previously live event. The San Jacinto College dance program invites submissions of short dance films for its first-ever Artists for Hope Dance Film Festival, to be held February 22-28, 2021. This year, our chosen organization is Dance Source Houston, whose mission is to empower the diverse individuals and organizations working in the field of dance throughout the Greater Houston region by means of advocacy, inclusive community engagement and support services. They are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the individuals and organizations of the Greater Houston dance ecosystem. DSH supports Dance Artists via a full range of programs and resources including convening, funding, marketing, performance opportunities and more. They also provide complete dance news, information and event listings in and around Houston, and publish The Dance Card – an up-to-the-minute listing of dance events, and The Dance DiSH – a magazine dedicated to dance news and views.

Due to the declining economic climate during the 2020 pandemic, especially as it impacts our local performing arts companies and venues, we feel that Dance Source Houston is the perfect organization to support for this years Artists for Hope. This campaign serves as a platform to raise additional funds for Dance Source Houston, beyond the scope of funds raised through master class offerings and film submissions. No amount is too small!
