Help Save Arthur's Kidney

Donation protected

Arthur Mongo suffers from Polycystic Kidney Disease and he is a two time Kidney Transplant survivor of which received his first Kidney Transplant in September of 1999 and receive his 2nd Kidney Transplant in October of 2009. Doctors say a Kidney Transplant is an alternative treatment to Dialysis that helps those with Kidney Disease feel well and return to a more normal life. Well, that is what happened for  Arthur after the first 2 rounds of Dialysis for about 9 years combined. The last Kidney Transplant gave Art his ability to enjoy life a lot more, as the energetic, outgoing and postitive  person he is at heart.

Well, things suddenly changed when suddenly a few weeks ago Art started feeling not so much like his normal lively and energetic self. He is and has always been a very happy, outgoing, energetic and positive person. But, as mentioned above he suddenly started feeling very ill and had to go to the ER at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center here in Palm Beach County. Only to find out that his sudden change in health was diagnosed as Kidney Rejection, which is why he suddenly became sick; because with his transplanted kidney being in rejection it was unable to cleanse his blood of impurities and toxins . This called for a variety of abrupt treatments here locally, in the effort to save and stop the transplanted kidney from rejecting. These treatments however did stabilize him, but were unable to stop the kidney from rejecting.  His local Doctors here in Palm Beach Gardens, recognized that this called for more aggressive treatment in order to give Arthur’s transplanted kidney a greater chance for survival.

So, the local Doctors arranged for him to be transported by ambulance to UF HEALTH SHANDS HOSPITAL in Gainesville, FL which is 4hours away from home (WPB, FL) to receive more of an aggressive treatment known as “INFUSION THERAPY” which consist of higher dosages of his “Anti-rejection medications” and high dosages of other medicines, once again in high efforts to stop the kidney from the rejection process.  These “Infusion Therapies” last up to 6 hours a day. He doesn’t always feel well afterwards and sometimes it does get him down; but he does work hard to maintain his positive spirit.  Also along with the Doctors goal to stop the Kidney Rejection, they want to prevent Art from losing this transplanted Kidney and remain off of Dialysis and return to a relatively healthy living.

We are all praying in faith that these “Infusion Therapies” will turn things around for Arthur and his wife and his son Antonio and his grandson Antonio Jr. whom Art loves beyond words, Lil AJ keeps him fighting.

Well, in addition this sudden change in Arthur’s health has created additional financial hardships on him and his wife. Due to the fact that he is hospitalized, they have incurred loss of his income and will at times affect Selina’s income too, in order for her to travel 4 hours to Gainesville, FL from West Palm Beach, FL to be with her husband to be with him and in case of an emergency she would have to be there with him, because she is his primary caregiver and one of his primary surrogates, she would need to be present to make serious medical decisions for him in case of him being incapacitated. In because the new higher dosages and amounts taken daily of Anti-Rejection medications to stop the kidney rejection and preserve the life of this kidney, it will be very costly for them to maintain these expenses without additional help, while Arthur is hospitalized and temporarily out of work; so they really need funding relatively fast to assist with cost for Anti-rejection medications, medical bills, hospital travel and additional bills!

These Infusion Therapies are of urgent and of a critical need to improve Art’s Kidney function and prayerfully returning him to relatively good health and energy. Giving him the ability to return to work and doing some of the things he love doing and appreciates such as; his ability to do his Bible Educational Ministry and to provide for & enjoy his family, especially his beloved grandson AJ and even perhaps these other things that he has enjoyed over the years such as; educate others about Kidney Disease, Transplants and Self Care with Dialysis. Yes, Art has enjoyed being a volunteer & a speaker at various Kidney Organizations; one of which is the Kidney Association of South Florida (KASF).  He was even once invited to Capitol Hill on September 2015 to speak to State Law-makers as an advocate, for patients with Kidney Disease and other Kidney issues and their needs.

We sincerely appreciate and thank you for your kind consideration and gracious help.
