Art for Cause
My goal is to fund a project "Art for Cause" I am working on, under which I intend to make 10 paintings for various NGOs by Spring of 2020. www.krititrivedi.in
The idea of having "Art for Cause" was incubated in one of my art exhibits at Chelsea, NYC, where one of my works on gender-based violence - "Why I Stayed" was displayed. In merely three evenings, more than seven women reached out to me emotionally, sharing their journey and struggles of gender-based violence. This experience epitomizes for me the power of the Art, the power of giving courage to people to open up and share some profoundly personal and hard to communicate stories about themselves and their hopes, dreams and fears.

How will these NGOs use my paintings?
These organizations can use these paintings to sensitize the target population, or use them for focus group discussions or to communicate the vision and mission of their organization or role model stories or success stories of the organization. Alternatively, organizations could also use these paintings for their fundraiser events.
How will the funds raised for this project help me?
I would use the funds to pay for my studio rent, buy supplies and postage charges to continue working on this series of paintings. These funds would buy me the time to focus on completing this body of work. Any size donation is highly appreciated.
No amount is too small. All donations will be appreciated. The first 20 people to donate $100.00 or more will receive a pack of 10 postcards of the paintings created under "Art for the Cause". And one of the donors will be randomly selected for an exclusive art piece.
The process to select the subject: Once I receive the request, I will reach out to the organization to understand the need for the commissioned art-work before conceptualizing and creating the art-work.
About the Artist and Art medium:
Kriti is a self-taught artist. Her art actively seeks to engage people in examining important issues. She explores similes and abstract art to grab attention to the alternate perspectives of the existing situation. She sees her art as a medium to stir the conventional thoughts and encourage positive dialogue among different segments of society. She derives her inspiration from the day to day conversations and experiences with people and conveys their story in the form of a painting. From the lenses of a development practitioner, she frequently explores the issues of society such as gender equity, human rights, disabilities, aging, etc.
Kriti works are displayed mainly in 2 mediums Acrylic and Molten Wax. Kriti has chosen molten wax, “Encaustic” as a medium to paint, where each drop of wax heated by a flame of candle unfolds the mystery of the universe. She believes that the luscious and engaging medium of wax is the perfect medium to establish a dialogue between herself and her art.
