Help Arlie’s and his independence go further
Arlie is an amazing 4 year old little boy who also happens to be a twin. Arlie was diagnosed with hydrocephalus just before he was born which resulted with him having Cerebral Palsy, which affects his legs, which he lovingly calls his “Special Legs”
Things haven’t been easy for him. Arlie can walk short distances using his splints and also has a walking frame but as he gets bigger, he tires very quickly as it does take a lot of effort both physically and mentally to walk. It also causes him pain, but regardless of these challenges he is a very happy little boy and we are all very proud of the things he has achieved so far.
As Arlie grows up, he wants to be just like his twin brother Kobi, and get around independently, and this is of course a big hurdle. Arlie has already noticed he is different from his brother and his little friends.
Both the boys start school in September and his physiotherapist feels he would benefit greatly from an electric wheelchair to assist his desire to be more independent, just like the other children.
His new school is a much larger school and therefore it will be a bigger environment to negotiate, not to mention outside school on walks, shopping trips, fun days out etc.
It would be hugely beneficial for Arlie if he could have an electric wheelchair to allow him some more independence which will help his self esteem as well as his feeling of acceptance from the other children.
An assessment from the NHS has deemed he does not qualify for an electric wheelchair, we have no idea how they have reached their conclusion, however we must now try to fund the chair ourselves to help Arlie with his independence.
Please help us to get Arlie his wheels!
