Autism Movement Therapy Certification

Hi, I'm Greta. In the picture with me is my son Max- he's a bright, charming five year old who happens to be autistic. We've tried many different types of intervention, but one thing we have not been able to try is dance-based therapy. There used to be a dance class for autistic children at a local dance studio, but it was discontinued some time ago and the studio is no longer in business. As a dance instructor myself, I believe this type of therapy could benefit Max and his friends in many ways. As a mom, I've seen the research to support this notion. Due to the exponetial increase in ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) diagnoses in recent years, the need for effective therapies has never been greater.
I am seeking funding to attend a workshop in NYC where I can be certified in Autism Movement Therapy. The workshop is very soon- July 19th- and is the only one scheduled on the East Coast for the rest of this year. The program has received praise from many experts in the field including Temple Grandin. I am so excited to bring this program to Lancaster. My vision is network with Max's teachers and therapists to find opportunities to offer Autism Movement Therapy widely in additon to a studio-based program. Please help!
