On December 1, 2016 Ariyana Jones, a beloved Country Day School teacher, was shot and killed in her home in Sacramento . Her husband and two young children were present (and unharmed).
Ariyana Jones was just 26 years old and was an assistant teacher in the pre-kindergarten class. She was described by colleagues as possessing a bright, joyful , light that shone in everything she did and included a dedication to bettering her community. In fact, Ariyana had recently started to organize a neighborhood watch in response to recent robberies near her home.
Students and faculty are heartbroken that a promising young life ended in such a tragic manner during the holiday season. The Country Day School community is a family in every sense of the word so we’re banding together to lift up and support Ariyana’s family.

Our fundraising goal is $125,000, which will go towards immediate expenses and ongoing support for her children, aged 2 and 4. Every amount will help – and we appreciate your support.
