Aric Whitacre Memorial Fund

This campaign has been established to help the family of Aric Whitacre with all expenses related to the tragic loss of their 18 year old son and brother Aric Witacre. Aric and a friend completed a 20+ mile hike on 31-Jul and were enjoying some cool waist deep water in Chatfield Reservoir when a sudden 18 foot dropoff caused them to struggle. A local boat was able to save the friend, but were unable to save Aric. Aric had recently graduated high school and was set to ship out to Navy bootcamp in a number of weeks.
The search and rescue mission transitioned to a recovery mission lasting 5 very difficult days. On 05-Aug, the very dedicated search team successfully recovered Aric's body bringing some much needed closure to the very sad situation.
During the recovery mission, the reservoir remained open while local boaters caused disruptions to the searches. A social media petition to stop boating during the recovery mission was created by Aric's 16 year old brother and amassed 10,000+ signatures. Through this petition, social media, and local news station, many became aware of the situation and showed respect in many forms. Thanks to all that helped limit boating in the area during this very difficult time. The family will be pursuing changes to help avoid another family to experience a similar situation at this lake.

How you are related to your beneficiary
- I am a coworker and friend of Jason Brown (Stepfather of Aric).
That you will be withdrawing the funds in your name to your own personal bank account
- I plan to withdraw the funds to my account and give the donations in cash to Jason and Stephanie along with PayPal/Venmo transfers I have received.
How exactly you will be delivering the funds to your beneficiary (i.e. cash, Paypal, check, etc - Please be specific!)
- I plan to give cash to Jason directly. We both live in Highlands Ranch.
