Archie's Ultra- 9th August 2025 - Marlay Park - Glendalough

My name is Shane and im running Ultramarathon for Archie – 50KM Across the Wicklow Mountains

Archie is 8 years old and recently diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy — a rare and progressive muscle-wasting condition. Without treatment, he may be in a wheelchair by age ten.

But there is a chance to slow things down.

A treatment exists in the United States that could help Archie — but it comes at a cost of €3.2 million. His family is racing against time to raise the funds needed to access it.

To help, I’m running my first-ever ultramarathon on August 9th — 50KM and 1,800m of elevation from Marlay Park to Glendalough. I chose this challenge because it’s tough — but nothing compared to what Archie and his family are facing.
