Update:  July 10, 2014— Whom it may concern, This fund was originally started in an effort to offset the burden of lost wages and time off work, should I get accepted into the clinical trial at NIH. I am sad to say, that I recently heard from them, and was told that I am not a candidate at this time. I did not have the tumor markers they were looking for.  They will keep my information for 6 months though, and  if there is another trial that they think might benefit me, they will let me know. In the meantime, I am looking into some trials closer to home. For those of you that donated to my fund, I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. The love and support that I have received since learning of my illness has been overwhelming. I want you to know, that it was never my intention, to mislead or to harm anyone however, financially or otherwise, so   I would be happy to refund your money if you contact me through this site. 

We are still accepting donations though, if you chose to do so, and any money left over (that is not returned), would then be used for living expenses, or to spend quality time with my family. Maybe take a trip and see some family back home. Or, it would be left in the fund, should I become a candidate at a later date. I am writing this update, so that you know that you are very important to me, and I want to be completely honest with you. Hello, my name is Rose and last year I was diagnosed with Bile Duct Cancer (Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma). The type of cancer that I have is very rare and very deadly. Only about 500 people per year are diagnosed with Bile Duct Cancer. I am 41 years old and have a 3 year old son named Jacob. The cancer has spread to other parts of my body including my liver and lymph nodes. I have received 10 months of chemotherapy. The type of chemo drugs that I have been taking did not make me lose any of my hair. I recently learned about a clinical trial for Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma located at the National Institute of Health in Maryland. I have applied to participate in this trial and am currently in the prequalifying stage of acceptance. My husband and I are both veterans and our insurance is covering the majority of my medical expenses. It is important to me to tell you that if I am accepted to participate in the trail that we will have no out of pocket expense for the medical care that I will receive. We created this account on gofundme.com in an attempt to raise funds to cover travel and living expenses for Jacob and I and also to alleviate some of the financial stress of lost wages. The last several months have been extremely stressful on our family. My doctors have predicted that without a miracle I could have less than a year to live. We are not the type of people to take advantage of others or seek out charity. However, this is a devastating time for my family and we humbly are requesting your help during this stressful time. I am not sure how much time I have left and we are scared. Also, if this works out and I am able to raise enough money I want to spend some quality time with Jacob and my husband. My husband told me that a million pennies equals $10,000 dollars. So, I believe that pennies can add up and every little bit could help.
