AR-1 RN Charlotte Carmichael Lost Everything

Catastrophe stuck Charlotte Carmichael who usually is responding to the impacts to others from the events of December 11, 2021. As a long-time member of the National Disaster Medical System (NDMS) and AR-1 Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT) as a Paramedic and Registered Nurse, Charlotte lost her new home and all her belongs in the huge tornado that struck Leachville Arkansas Friday night, December 11th, 2021. She just recently completed her home and it now its a total loss - everything is gone. The tornado that started in Arkansas raked across several states Friday night, killing nearly 100 people.

The National Disaster Medical System (NDMS) is called to action when the devastation of natural and man-made disasters brings an urgent need for health and medical care. Hurricanes, earthquakes, pandemic disease, major transportation accidents, and terrorist attacks can overwhelm state, local, tribal or territorial resources. At a state’s request, NDMS provides personnel, equipment, supplies, and a system of partner hospitals work to together with state and local personnel to provide care when Americans need it most. Charlotte answers those calls for help, leaving home at a moments notice to help those in need.

Charlotte has been active with AR-1 DMAT since its inception in the late 1980's. She has deployed on numerous missions, always the exceptional compassionate provider and friend. Now is the opportunity for her responder family, members in the disaster response community, and others to come together to help one of our own.
