Heart Aorta Malformation Surgery (DAA)

Donation protected
Lyric was born on 5/19/2014 via planned C-section at 37 weeks; she is one of five the only girl. Once she was here and cleaned up her parents (Theo & Sherry) noticed wheezing (congested sound) and were told it would go away. Four days later baby girl was in NICU with trouble swallowing and labored breathing. Lyric was transferred to Children’s Hospital in DC for yet another lengthy stay only to be told after five days she would out grow what they called Stridor. This so called stridor was very scary as it sounded like poor Lyric was choking. After her parents sought out a second opinion from the Lung Center in Fairfax, VA they were sent from the office to the Fairfax Inova for what they are now calling a true diagnosis. Lyric was diagnosed with a Double aorta arch (vascular ring) which is a rare congenital cardiovascular malformation this ring surrounds the trachea and basically clinches down on it narrowing breathing passages as the heart pumps the blood. The heart surgery on the aorta done Friday 6/20/2014 was a success but there is a lengthy road to healing. Lyric is still hospitalized on oxygen and a feeding tube her parents are being told she will most likely go home this way. Funds are needed to secure specialized care for Lyric while her parents return to work in order to support their children, along with the amounting hospital copays, bills etc from being in the hospital for the majority of a month.
