On May 16, 2014 I went to my Doctor for a rountine checkup that included a mammogram which turned into a moment that has changed my life. At the check-up, it was discovered that I had a "spiculated mass highly suspicious of malignancy." I returned on May 20th for another mammogram and ultrasound. The ultrasound clearly showed the mass and of course, a biopsy was necessary. The biopsy confirmed malignancy. On June 4th a lumpectomy and a senninal lymph node biopsy were performed, and the pathology report showed that there was cancer in one of my lymph nodes also. On June 25th, I had second surgery, a partial mastectomy and lymph node dissection which we are currently awaiting the pathology results. My Doctors informed me that I will require radiation treatment and possibly chemotherepy as well as hormone therapy (my cancer is estrogen receptive).

Throughout this whole process, I have been blessed to receive numerous dua's (prayers), well-wishes, encouragement and support from so many people that I know and do not know. My doctors'discovery of this breast cancer has been a shocking and sobering experience, and I have been moved by the enormous outpouring of support.
Unfortunately, the surgeries, pending medical treatment and current medical bills have caused a great financial burden for me, my husband, and children.

With one child preparing for college and the suddenness of short-term disablity, my ability to financially support my son in his preparations for college have been hampered to say the least. As well, generally speaking, daily living hasn't been easy.
