Medical Bills

The world needs Brandon, but Brandon needs you! It is the hope of the fulfillment of "Brandon’s Medical Mission Fund" and the continued support of family and friends that will continue to give Brandon a chance to live a wholesome life and to contribute to the world in a positive and life-giving way. For this reason, I am reaching out to the larger global community via Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn in support of our worthy cause. Brandon's total goal amount is $75,000 and any donation given towards this overall financial goal will add value to his life.

My son, Brandon, has faced one difficult challenge after another since his birth in 2007. From a 9-month medical stay after his birth at Baptist Memorial Hospital’s NICU, to countless Speech, Occupational, and Physical therapy sessions with Baptist Rehabilitation Center, Brandon has done remarkably well while coping with his current Cerebral Palsy condition. Through the years since his birth, we have witnessed miracle after miracle as Brandon has slowly developed his motor skills (learning how to suck milk from a bottle, crawl, roll over, sit, and eventually walk by himself when he was 4 years old) but, to this day his has not learned how to speak. Brandon is now seven years of age.

Our family believes that Brandon’s troubles started in the delivery room by his doctors at birth. As the months went by, his primary care physician, his EEG specialist, and all of his specialized medical care providers at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital said that he could not be properly or accurately diagnosed until after he had reached 2 years of age. You can imagine the struggle of trying to care for him when we didn't even know what was really wrong with him!

In addition to the difficulties and associated costs of caring for Brandon, the Social Security Administration initially approved disability benefits for Brandon only to deny him those same benefits shortly thereafter citing 'ineligibility.' As a result of the SSA’s decision to deny his disability benefits, we were ordered to repay any benefits we had received from their office or risk being prosecuted. To add insult to injury, Brandon's elementary school teacher Clancey Patterson (under the leadership of Cassandra Berry) at Bon Lin Elementary School has been accused of mentally and physically abusing Brandon and other students in her class. The case is still in being processed through the courts.

The plea I put before you is to be a part of helping a young child continue to grow and develop into his full potential even though he has Cerebral Palsy. He has made such good progress, but the financial burden has been steep, the medical bills astronomical, and they will continue to be so. Please give what you can to help this special child become all that he can be!
