April's Hurricane Relief Fund

Hello, I’m Chris Summers and April Sammons is my cousin who is one of the many devastated by Hurricane Harvey.

I live in Dallas, TX and my cousin April lives in La Marque, TX which is 15 miles north of Galveston Island.

This isn’t a complete list  and estimated repair costs:  
·       Roof-Severe roof damage-$1500
·       Interior structure and wall damage-$12000
·       Exterior Fencing missing or severely damaged$5000
·       Car-declared totaled by car insurance-$6000
·       Furniture$2000
·       Carpeting-$1500
·       Appliances-$2500
·       TV’s-$1000
·       Electronics-$1000
·       Home Goods-$1500
·       Pet Supplies-$1000
·       Clothing-$1000
·       Food-$400

 I’m driving down to help clean and rebuild next weekend, 9/8/17, and will post pictures and progress of our efforts.

So, give if you can to help my cousin April overcome the tragedy that she and her family have experienced with Hurricane Harvey.

100% of all money donated will go directly to April for any expenses involved with the replacement or recovery of her home.

More on April….
April lives in La Marque, TX just 15 minutes north of Galveston Island where she is a teacher.  April’s mother retired to Galveston and moved in with her so that they could help each other out.  Together, they survived one of the most devastating hurricanes to hit the Texas coast.

April was born and raised in Texas and has always loved the Texas coastline.  For the past 12 years April has taught in the same school district and currently teaches 8th grade English Language Arts (ELA) at Scott Collegiate Academy in Galveston, TX.  Her students are her life.  I can’t count the stories of those who stay in touch to thank her and become friends as they grow and develop their own lives.  She supports her community by teaching those who are our future to give them hope and to live with compassion. 

April demonstrates her living with compassion by volunteering through the Bayou Animals Services as a foster for elderly dogs who need homes during their final days.  She currently has one foster who was with her during the hurricane.  This wonderful foster dog was one of 5 dogs, 4 cats and one turtle who make up her diverse family.  All have their own stories and comprise a menagerie who are grateful to be called family.
