Appeal for St Francis Hudebwe Primary School

Donation protected
Hi! My name is Allan Chidziva. I am an educator and passionate about education access for disadvantaged children particularly those in African villages. Having grown up in a village myself in rural Zimbabwe, I understand the difficulties children attending village schools face in their quest for education and a better future. These difficulties range from very little learning resources in their classrooms, congestion, and the poverty from which most of them come from. I was really touched on my last visit to Zimbabwe when I saw the poor state of my former school and with your help, I think we can make a difference to the kids attending the school at this moment.
State of the School
St Francis Hudebwe Primary School is a Zimbabwean village school established in the 1920’s. The school is situated about two hours from the capital, Harare. Since the school was built, there has not been any meaningful infrastructure improvements and the school has deteriorated due to the economic hardships the country has suffered over the last 20 years.
At the moment, nearly all classrooms have shattered windows making it uncomfortable for children during winter and the rainy seasons resulting in increased absences. Furniture is worn out in some of the classrooms. Due to neglect and lack of investment over the past two decades, the school is poorly resourced. Children in the school share books at a ratio of one to eight. The school is also in need of basic sports equipment such as footballs and netballs.
Like many other village schools in Zimbabwe, many of the children are orphans due to the AIDS pandemic and they come from homes headed by children and the elderly.
Why crowdfund?
This year, the school has an enrolment of 320 pre-school kids, but they are poorly resourced. They have one bare classroom with no desks and benches and teaching and learning resources. The school needs financial support to furnish the classroom and to purchase the desperately needed teaching and learning resources. Due to the poor socio-economic of the families access to the most basic education resources for the children is not possible without financial assistance.
Growing up in the village and being a former student of this school, I would be very grateful if you can help me on a journey to improve the plight of children at my former school.

Champion Corey Sawers
Corey is walking from Huskisson, NSW to Perth WA for this cause. Please support Corey's selfless effort for the kids of St Francis Hudebwe Primary School.

The Goal
I would like to ask for your support in raising funds to at least address one urgent need of furnishing the big classroom for kindergarten kids. My goal is to raise $7500 which translates to about US$5000 (the currency currently used in Zimbabwe).
