Please Donate: Buying a New Mosque in Vermont

Dear brothers, sisters and freinds,   THANK YOU!
All the praise is due to God.  We’re so happy to announce that we have purchased our new Masjid on October 10th, 2019.  On behalf of the Islamic Society of Vermont, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to all donors for your generous donation for buying the new Masjid in Vermont. May Allāh (SWT) accept your donation and make a house for you and your family in paradise.

The Messenger of Allah (SWT) said: “Whoever makes a Masjid for the sake of Allah, Allah will make for him a house in Paradise” (Sahih Muslim).

The Islamic Society of Vermont (ISVT) (, requests your support in raising the target of $70,000 for purchasing a property, formerly used as a place of worship by our Christian friends which is known as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The ISVT has found that this place has all the amenities and various merit to meet the requirements of new generation Muslims  in Vermont.

Alhamdulillah, we have signed a contract for buying this property which is established over a 3-acre land with a 19,000 sq. ft building. Given the circumstances, the entire property is priced at $1.05M, which is far below the town-assessed value and at 50% less than its market value of $2.4M. Its location in South Burlington, Vermont, is a very desirable and central to most of our Muslim community in the Greater Burlington area. In addition, we are excited that this location is also in the same neighborhood of our friends from the Temple Sinai Synagogue and from the All Saints Episcopal Church. Please look at our new masjid here:

Please donate urgently for the house of Allah:
We have to buy this Church for $1.05 million by October 10. Without Allah's mercy and your help, it is impossible for us to raise this amount of money within this short time. Alhamdolillah, as of 9/19/19, we have raised $1000,000, but we  need only $70,000 more.  We are requesting your urgent donation in the name of Allah (SWT) to purchase our new Masjid and Islamic Center, which will bring you endless rewards and mercy from Allah (SWT).   May Allah (SWT) open everyone's hearts so that everyone contributes to this house of Allah and secure a house in Paradise.

“Giving away something in charity does not cause any decrease in a person’s wealth, but increases it instead” [Sahih Muslim].

Why do we need a new Masjid?
In 1999, the Society purchased a building to serve as it's Masjid, currently located at 182 Hegeman Avenue, Colchester, Vermont 05446. This building is no longer able to meet the demands of our growing Muslim community due to its limited space, facilities and parking, etc.

In addition, the architectural design of the building limits our ability to employ pro-active and effective safety and security measures, something that is of upmost importance to our community due to recent events. To address the needs of our next generation of Vermont Muslims, we have been looking for a better space for our future Masjid.

With the mercy of Allah (SWT), we found an ideal place for our future masjid located at 400 Swift Street, South Burlington, Vermont. If Allah (SWT) accepts, this location will accommodate over 700 Muslim worshipers, our Weekend Islamic School, community events, etc.

We pray that you, our donor, will donate generously to help us build this house of Allah!

About us:

The Islamic Society of Vermont (ISVT) is a non-profit organization (Tax ID 03-0346526), established in 1995, by the efforts of a handful of members within the Greater Burlington area. Our diverse community includes members from all around the world, which has grown substantially over the years because of the influx of Muslim refugees from Bosnia, Iraq, Burma and Syria. Currently, there are about 4,000 Muslims living in the state of Vermont, and we have about 300 active members who regularly attend the Jumma prayers at our current location. As part of our mission, we run a Weekend Islamic School that offers excellent programs on Islamic Studies and Arabic language to our kids.

Our mission:
·         Establish an Islamic Center to strengthen the bonding among Muslims living in the State of Vermont and offer a full range of  services to our Islamic community.
·         Provide religious, charitable, mentoring, social and educational opportunities for youth and adults according to the Qur’an and Sunnah to promote understanding of the Islamic faith, guidance, ethics and history.
·         Provide interfaith programs that connect Muslims and people of other faiths in order to build mutual respect, understanding, help each other, and informed the values of religion and cultue.
