Thank you for taking the time to read this.   You must be an animal LOVER like myself.   What I wouldn't do for my love, Apollo.     Apollo is a 5 year old Alaskan Shepard/Lab mix.   I have had him since he was 8 weeks old  when he was in search of a good home!   Apollo is my best friend, best thing to ever happen to me in my life.    He is such a great boy;  loyal, fun, energetic, and so much more than word can describe.

We just found out that Apollo has completely ruptured his left leg Cranial Cruciate Ligament.   Poor boy has been functioning on three legs :(    He is currently taking Gabapentin for pain, Carprofen (Rovera) for inflammation/pain and Cosequin DS Joint Health Supplement.   Once we noticed Apollo's limping, we took him to his regular vet.    Apollo has had two vet visits @ VCA Worth Animal Hospital and referred to Premier Veterinary Group for an orthopedic surgery consultation.       In which we were told the best solution for Apollo will need Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) surgery.

The TPLO  procedure uses biomechanics of the knee joint and was developed with larger breed dogs in mind.  (Apollo is a healthy 90 lbs.)   The idea is to change the angle at which the femur bears weight on the flat "plateau" of the tibia.  The tibia is cut and rotated in such a way the natural weight-bearing of the dog actually stabilizes the knee joint.  This surgery is complex and involves a specific technique.  Many radiographs are necessary to calculate the angle of the osteotomy (the cut in the tibia).

Typically Apollo should be able to touch his toes to the ground by 10 days after surgery.   He will be strictly restricted for 2 months.  Full function is generally achieved 3 to 4 months after surgery and me and  my Apollo will be able to return to our  normal active life!

The sooner the better for my poor boy.   I am scheduling the surgery for Wednesday August 2, 2017.

Your donation(s) will be greatly appreciated so I can give my baby the best care.    Although I have Pet insurance, it does not cover injury/illness (to my surprise).
