Jami's Journey

Hi my name is Jami Mayfield to some “J”, I am a mother to three beautiful children and blessed with a wonderful husband. I was diagnosed, in March 2011 with an incurable disease called Dermatomyositis, to my family known as the “dinosaur disease”. This disease has taken a toll on my life, I have missed priceless time with my family, I am unable to work, and the outside world is a challenge, I have even lost myself at times. I have seen numerous doctors and taken numerous medicines and tests, we are locally out of options. There is a well known hospital that specializes directly with my illness that will give me a better quality of life. My doctor has advised me to seek care at a specialty hospital in Baltimore, Maryland called John Hopkins Hospital. This is a dream and a blessing to be able to find a treatment plan so that I can live my life, raise my children and see the world differently every day. With the help of my friends and family, I know I will be able to go there and get the best medical care possible. Any amount given towards my journey is a blessing beyond what my words can express.
