Anthony & Cheryl Croslin Med Trip

Donation protected
My brother-in-law, Anthony Croslin, has suffered with recurring pancreatitis for the past 3 years. He was born with a deformity in the pancreas - he has 2 pancreatic ducts, and the one his body has chosen to use is the smallest one. He has had countless ER visits and extended hospital stays in the past 3 years. When he has an episode of pancreatitis, it causes severe pain and nausea, and he cannot eat for several days.
After learning about a pancreas specialist at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis that deals with issues like Anthony's, he and my sister made a trip up there for a consultation. Since that first trip, there have been multiple more trips for procedures that they hoped would correct his problem. He has had 2 stent placements in the pancreatic duct, and both were unsuccessful.
They were given the option at the last visit to consider a pancreatectomy. Since your pancreas produces the insulin required for your body to process sugar, it is not a common occurrence for the pancreas to be removed. They will remove the islet cells (the cells that produce insulin) from his pancreas and transplant them into his liver, where they will continue to produce insulin. The procedure is called Total Pancreatectomy with Islet Auto Transplant (TPIAT). Anthony had to go through an extensive screening process to determine whether he qualified as a candidate for this surgery. He was notified a few weeks ago that he was, indeed, a candidate.
After much consideration and many prayers, Anthony and Cheryl have decided to go ahead with the surgery. The surgery will require Anthony to be hospitalized for about 2 weeks, and then stay in Minnesota for 4-6 weeks after he is discharged to monitor his progress and in case of any complications. Just the lodging that will be required for this trip is going to be extremely expensive. The cheapest hotel room Cheryl has found near the hospital is $70 per night. They are looking at all possible options for lodging, but at best, will cost them several thousand dollars.
This GoFundMe account is to help with Cheryl and Anthony's travel, lodging, and food expense while they are away. Cheryl recently was laid off and is drawing unemployment, but will not be able to draw a check while she is out of state.
Please consider making a donation if at all possible. I don't know 2 people with bigger hearts, and they have been such a blessing to so many people. Every little bit will help. Thanks in advance!! Lots of love to you all!
