Anthony Cammarata's Medical Fund

Anthony is our son, a 45 year old MTA mechanic who was stricken with colon cancer last December, 2016.   After a biopsy perforated his bowel, he came to the emergency room and under went a massive surgical procedure where multiple tumors were found.  His colon, as well as the tumors were removed, but one was only scraped away because it pressed against his abdominal wall, leaving cells behind.  After over 1 month in the hospital ICU and surgical unit, Anthony went home with home care.  Now he had to face a huge abdominal incision as well as an illeostomy.  After 4 months of healing, he now faced Chemotherapy.  Chemo lasted for 3 months before he saw the surgical team again for the tumor that was scraped away from the abdomin but now returned.  But the chemo fed the tumor which grew so much it encompassed 5-6 loops of his small intestine as well as his abdominal wall, so surgery was not an option.  Anthony has returned to the hospital this past September, 2017 and has remained as of this writing.  He has undergone surgical stent placements, surgical bypass,  has been on TPN for 2 months already, NGT to suction.  He is expected to have 2 pegs placed next week for decompression and tube feedings.  He is officially fired from his job on December 7th and is accumulating many co-pays from his hospital stay.  He also took out a loan of which $14,000.00 is still due, that the family is unable to pay back.  We applied for Social security disability on his behalf, but have yet to get approval.  Any help would be appreciated.  Laura & Antonio Cammarata
