Annie the Alpaca & her New cria
Donation protected
I am looking for help. We live in NE Texas, on a developing fiber ranch. A couple weeks ago, we were delighted to be able to add a small herd of registered alpacas to our ranch, 4 pregnant girls and a young herdsire. All was well until yesterday, when one of our sweet girls, Annie (pictured here), somehow broke her front leg in the flat pasture. Our vet came out and we splinted her in the field, then transported her to the vet, for pain meds and x-rays. The results were serious: her break was not clean, but rather fragmented, and she will need surgery to fix the leg. Our vet is wonderful and she has been calling around to get quotes on surgeries. The first quote came in this morning: an equine orthopaedic surgeon who can do the procedure for $5k-$7k. We love our animals and have a breeding program planned, but that cost is out of our reach. We've been advised to start a GoFundMe to save this beautiful girl and her unborn cria. We need funds immediately, or we will be forced to euthanize Annie, killing both her and her unborn baby. Please help, if you can! Thanks, and God Bless.
