Dons fight against cancer

Mike and I are starting this page for those who would like to help our dad, Don Brach, during this difficult time.

As most of you know, Don went to his doctor a few weeks ago because his left hand was not working. His doctor sent him to the ER with concerns he had a mild stroke. While at the ER, he underwent lots of testing and they found cancerous lesions in his brain. After a biopsy, they found the source of the cancer was his kidneys which had spread to his brain. He has been diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer. They are planning on starting radiation on his brain this Friday (9/9). Once he is finished with that radiation, they will begin to decrease the steroids he is on so they can start the immunotherapy for his kidney. There is still a lot unknown; however we are staying optimistic that treatment will be successful.

For those of you that know Don, you know what a hardworking individual he is. 15+ years of working for his own contracting business, as well as committing his weekends to charity work with the Knights of Colombus. Whether it's remodeling a home or cooking for 300 people, Don does it with a smile. He is truly someone that loves to help people.

Many people have reached out to us asking how they can help. We are having a fundraiser to help raise money for Don on October 22nd. I will put the information at the bottom of this page. Please spread the word & remember dad does NOT know this is a fundraiser for him.

We have mainly made this page for the people that cannot attend the fundraiser but would still like to donate.

With treatment around the corner, we are unsure if Don will be able to get back to work. We will use these donations towards medical bills, treatments, medications and anything else to help Don fight this battle. Any donations are so very appreciated.

Mike and I are BEYOND grateful for the support we have received. We cannot thank everyone enough for their encouraging words, for dropping off dinners and helping us through this tough time. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Parking is available at the park district down the road as well as street parking (off Ethel st)

We will serve German food, pulled pork and sides.

We plan to have a silent auction, split the pot, pull tabs and more!

Dad does NOT know this is for him - he thinks it is just a usual party at Tony's. Ideally, we would love to surprise him with this fundraiser.
