Animal Shaves His Head!
As most of my close friends and family know, my courageous Mother Lynn has been battling Cancer throughout 2018. On April 3rd the family gathered as she made it clear that she would not let the effects of Chemotherapy control her life and shaved her head. It was the the single most difficult thing I have ever seen my sweet mother go through. On one hand, it was beautiful to see her strength shine as she took control of the situation. While on the other hand, it was extremely difficult to see her lose such an integral part of her womanhood.
I have been growing my hair and doing windmills for 15 years (half of my life). It has become a part of my identity and a large part of my life's story. Like everything in life however, things change and we are faced with new challenges and opportunities. I see this as the perfect opportunity to say goodbye to something I like in support of someone that I LOVE.
The Canadian Cancer Society is an amazing organization that has made my Mom's treatment as relatively easy as possible. We are so lucky to live in a country with a healthcare system like Canada and have organizations like the Cancer Society. I often reflect on how much they have given to our family in support of this daunting battle and I simply cannot sit idly by while families across our country suffer from this debilitating disease.
Hair grows back, family does not.
Let's help continue the support for people fighting the ultimate fight, after all, Cancer does not discriminate and will effect everyone in some way during our lifetimes.
Much Love!
