Angus Napier Caton 28.3.2006 - 28.6.2020
Angus was 6 years old when he was diagnosed with his first brain tumour in 2013. He had major brain surgery and proton radiotherapy, and went on to enjoy 6 fabulous years of life at Dean Close school. Unfortunately in 2019, his cancer came back. Despite a valiant fight against brain and later spinal cancer, he sadly passed away aged 14 1/4yrs on 28.6.2020. He is missed greatly by so many family and friends. He was the most beautiful son, grandson and big brother.
Dean Close was a special place to Angus. He was always happy there. He had the most amazing support from staff and pupils alike. He was able to be himself. The tumours and surgeries left him with some physical difficulties, but he never complained. He just got on with his life, right to the end. Many will remember his cheeky smile and quirky humour. Even in the last month of his life, when he was paralysed from the chest down, he was still smiling and telling daft jokes.
With this in mind, we would like to get a bench placed in the social space outside Angus's house - Dale, at Dean Close School, as a permanent memorial to him. A place where pupils can congregate, remember him, but more importantly to relax and remember the joy of life. A life that for Angus was cut short before he had realised his hopes and aspirations.
The hope is to purchase a metal bench to be placed ready for the start of Michaelmas term. We hope to commission the bench straight away for it to be custom made by local artist blacksmith - Dave Preston. His work can be seen in Hatherley Park. The fund will be managed by Angus's mum, Adele Caton. Any additional funds will be donated to CLIC(Cancer and Leukaemia in Children) - who supported Angus through his illness.
