Hey everyone,
As most of you already know, I've been home recovering from surgery. About 7 weeks ago I was seen for some bad lower abdominal pain, bouts of dizziness and irregular periods. One thing lead to another and after some scans and biopsies I was told I had an early stage cervical cancer and a couple of fibroid tumors in my uterus. My Doctor recommended I have a TLH (Total Laproscopic Hysterectomy) so they could "get it all in one shot" -I agreed. I've had more than a couple pelvic issues in the more recent past and I couldn't have been happier to say "TAKE IT ALL!". Next I started all my paperwork for my employer and its was just a matter of time.
Now for my unfortunate side to this...
I had already used all of my PTO that I had saved for all of the doctors and imaging appts I had prior to my surgery and my employer does not offer short term disability.
Some of you also know that I have a self employed husband and 3 kids, two of which are not yet school aged. Matt agreed to run his business this summer on the days I didn't work (Thurs-Sun) so we didn't have to pay for child care. For those of you who don't know, the cost of child care is $200 per week- per child. So this plan we had just worked best for us this sumer, until this issue popped up.
Matt has been home taking care of me and the kids everyday since my surgery. The surgeon said he gave it a 10.5/10! My uterus was sent to pathology and we shoul be hearing from them any day.
But, we've taken a painful hit to our already low pockets. I'll hopefully be back to work soon, but sadly there isn't going to be a paycheck coming for quite a while.
If you can afford to contribute to this fund, even just a little bit, it would help tremendoulsy.
