Help a Beloved Nurse Fight Lymphoma

Donation protected
My mother saves lives. Now she needs help to save her own.

My name is Janna Weiss, and I am raising money to help my mother, Angela Dyer, pay for her cancer treatments and keep her home.

Mom has always been a compassionate lady. She put herself through college and became a Registered Nurse. Later, she went back and earned her Bachelor's of Nursing. She worked for years as an E.R. nurse, saving lives, and, when it was needed, comforting the bereaved. Then she became an OB/GYN nurse, and helped welcome babies into the world. Finally, she settled into home health and hospice care, where she helped her patients and their families navigate the realities of the end stage of life as painlessly as possible.

The day before Thanksgiving 2015, Mom was diagnosed with Stage 4 of an extremely rare and aggressive form of B-cell Lymphoma that accounts for only 8 - 10% of all Lymphoma cases, and is usually seen in men over 60. It is like a Lymphoma inside a Lymphoma. It continually rearranges the cells and affects the patient's DNA.

This is a tough disease, and Mom is a tough woman, but her treatments have left her with ongoing neurological problems.

She has almost finished her chemotherapy, which requires her to stay in the hospital for one week out of every month and endure spinal taps and all of the illness and weakness that chemotherapy brings. Soon she will move on to stem cell transplants to try and get rid of the cancer for good.

Unfortunately, as is the case for so many cancer victims, Mom became far too sick to work during her treatment. Her short term disability runs out next month. This is happening at the same time that her husband, my stepfather, is losing more than half of his pension due to recent changes in the law.

Though she has insurance, Mom's medical bills are heartbreakingly high. There is only so much the family can do, which is why I'm humbly asking for your help. I don't want Mom to lose her little country home that she loves so much. She's been through enough.

Angie Dyer is well-known and well-loved in her community. She has provided compassionate care to the elderly and the dying for many years. Let's please pull together for her. Nurses give so much of themselves to help others. Sometimes they need help, too.

Every dollar we raise will go to pay Mom's medical bills and keep her in her home. If you cannot afford to give money, please consider sharing this page with your friends and family. Every time someone sees this, it's another chance for Mom to get the help she needs.

My family is tremendously thankful to you for taking the time to read this and pass it along. Thank you all. <3
