My sister has had issues with her knees since high school.  She had her first knee surgery in her early 20s. She has had 4 knee surgeries and been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis.  Through it all she has refused to go on disability.  She works 40 hours a week missing little to no work.  At age 55  she has been told she needs to have her right hip and both knees replaced.  She went to three surgeons before finding one that would perform the surgery but he is in Pittsburgh, PA and the hospital he works at doesn't accept her insurance.  He is the best for what she needs done but it would cost her over $120,000.

She just this week  found another surgeon to do the hip surgery locally but will still have extensive copays and recovery time for all three surgeries.  She also has expenses where she is going to a nutritionist and physical therapist who has a pool with a tread mill so she can be in the best possible shape before surgery to recover fully and return to work quickly to prepare for the other surgeries.   She's worked so very hard and to date has lost 55 lbs.  She had hoped to get the right hip and knee done together to cut down on expenses and recover time but couldn't find any surgeon who would do both at once.

This fund raiser is to give her funds to add a handicap ramp to her home entrance, remodel her bathroom to be handicap accessible (roll in shower, handicap toilet, handicap hand rails), aide with expenses while off work, help with physical therapy and copayment expenses.

She has had a life full of incidents that has left her financially strapped.  She lost her eldest son when he was only 16 in a tragic accident where he was struck by a tanker truck coming home from the orthodontist.  She had no life insurance on him and had just exhausted their savings building a home.

Her husband was in law enforcement and was hit by a vehicle that tore up his back so he could no longer be an officer.  He also refused to file workers compensation on the accident and at 62 still continues to work as a civilian/support staff at a federal law enforcement agency.   He had surgery last year to repair his heart (a surgery his older brother did not survive).  He has returned to work but the time off and extensive copays from his procedure at Cleveland Clinic has left them in extensive debit.

While what I am asking for will not cover their current debit or by any means cover their upcoming debit but it will go a long way in helping them to stay afloat and survive.

This hard working, loving and kind family cannot seem to catch a break in life so this fund raiser is to try to help them out.  My sister's first surgery will occur this spring so your donations are urgent to find and pay a contractor to have her home remodeled before surgery.

Thank you you for taking the time to read this and God Bless you for your donations!!
