Hello Everyone!
Some of you probably heard about the scare that Angela had this past July. Now that she has made it through the most difficult part of this experience, we (her family and friends) feel it’s “OK to talk about it”. :)
July 2, 2016 - Angela was complaining of an extremely bad headache while on a weekend trip (with her friend Kelly) to visit her mom in Gulf Breeze, FL. Although her headache continued she remained in FL until Monday, July 4th when she proceeded to drive home to Birmingham.
July 5, 2016 - Angela was still not feeling well, but woke up and went to work for the day. Upon arrival to work, her boss instantly realized how bad Angela actually was and instructed her to head directly to her primary doctor. Once she saw her primary doctor, he sent her directly to the emergency room due to an extremely elevated blood pressure.
These above described events are what led to an unexpected journey that still continues for this 36 year old female and mom to a 9 year old son.
July 5, 2016 - After arriving to Brookwood ER and following the CT scan and MRI, the scans revealed a right subarachnoid hemorrhage (right side brain bleed). Angela was immediately taken by ambulance to Brookwood Hospital where emergency brain surgery was schedule the following morning, July 6, 2016.
Angela remained in Surgical Intensive Care (SIC) for 23 days and during those 23 days she had a total of 10 invasive brain procedures completed.
Needless to say, those 23 days were quite frightening to her entire family, but if you truly know Angela you know she is a FIGHTER (seriously, the only physical brawl I have ever had in my life was with her). hehehehe
July 29, 2016 - Angela was moved from SIC to the rehabilitation floor for intense rehabilitation and was then discharged to come home August 9, 2016.
At this time she has still not been cleared by her neurologist to drive, but is very intermittently returning to work and is on a very routine schedule for follow up doctor visits, physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy.
Thankfully Angela does have great medical insurance, but she still has an abundance of co-pays and deductibles to cover.
The next 10 months or so are critical in Angela's full recovery. Angela lost a bit of weight throughout this event and her family and friends would like to see her get back on track health wise.
The money raised through the gofundme page will be used to get her health back on track with a nutritionist (or something similar) and to cover remaining medical bills.
Thanks for reading this and remember to make every day count! We are very thankful for the outcome to this continue story. Also remember that every donation (little or big) will help!
Much love,
Holly (Angela’s cousin)
On behalf of her entire family and friends
