Hello, my name is Holly Thompson. On the 18th Feb 2018, My beautiful mother, aged just 46, had a brain aneurysm at the wheel of her car and after 4 days in an induced coma, was pronounced brain dead and her life support turned off. With no symptoms or ill heath leading up to the tragic incident, it has come to a huge shock to the family and are finding it hard to cope without her. She leaves behind her partner of 25 years, two daughters and four grandchildren who she absolutely adored.
She was a lady who spent her life caring for others, working within a care homes for autistic children for the past 15 years. She was incredibly hard working, having a job since she left school, working in numerous job roles, from a prison officer, victim support worker to butcher and window saleswoman aha!
This caring philosophy she always lived by didn't stop when she had sadly passed away either. Due to the cause of death only affecting the brain, doctors explained to the family that mum actually had a universal blood type O- and with her young age, her organs were perfect for donation. Mum has now gone on to save 8 peoples lives by donating blood, kidneys, lungs, pancreas and liver. Shes been able to give those survivors the best gift, The gift of life.
Sadly due to mums' young age, she never even thought about funeral arrangements or even spoke about getting old and death so life cover of any sort wasn't on the cards. She didn't have any savings as she lived her life to give every penny she had on her grand kids, who she spoilt rotten.
The funds asked for are literally to help dad out with the funeral costs. With the standard package chosen, it is £3200, not including the additional costs of flowers and a memorial box for her ashes once cremated.
Dad doesn't actually know about this GoFundMePage, as he has never asked anyone for anything and would never ask himself. However, he is now learning to live on his own, with his eldest daughter and three grandkids living with him and somewhat dependant on his income too.
Although he is trying his best to find the money for the funeral costs, I would love to lift the weight off his shoulders and put out this ask for help. The target is just the costs of the funeral but even half of that would be a huge help to the family!
