As many of you may or may not have heard, my mother Anette McDonald is not doing well. After gaining 9 pounds in her abdomen over a two day period, we rushed her into the ER. With her yellow skin and yellow eyes rapidly getting worse, she was quickly admitted. Now, riddled with ascites, and a large mass on her liver.. we have been here since last Tuesday evening. She has had over 15 painful tests, including paracentesis; where she had 1 1/2 liters of fluid removed. (More remains.) With cirrhosis of the liver at 90%, 10% barely working, and scarring on her kidney, our stress levels are at an all time high.
She knows it is going to be a LONG road ahead. But with much love and support from her family and friends, she remains in good spirits. Although she is maintaining a positive outlook, she is very weak, and sad to be away from her family. For anyone who knows my mom, her husband Robert Miller said it best - "She is the most selfless person I have ever met in my entire life. If everyone in the world had a heart like her, what a place it would be." She has not had insurance for some time now, and the growing hospital bills are causing a lot of added stress. Preventing her from wanting to stay and get the help she so desperately needs. We are asking for help in any way. Dollars, cents, and always prayer. All monetary funds will be put toward her outstanding bills here at Southampton hospital. We thank any and all in advance, and we so greatly appreciate all of the beautiful flowers and outpour of love we have already received.
