Andy Watt Memorial Fund

Andy Watt passed away Sept 5, 2019 after a brief and unexpected battle with cancer. He leaves behind his wife, Ingrid, and two beautiful 14 year old twins: Lindsay and Jennifer. This week, friends and family gathered to tell a few stories and raise a glass to this wonderful man. Many heartfelt superlatives resonated that day (loving - devoted - loyal - compassionate) but one trait in particular (giving) has me asking for your help today.

You see, Andy was a giver.  He was wired to help. He loved his family and tried very hard to provide all the support anyone could imagine. He was also always there for his friends, neighbors, and even the occasional stranger along the way. He was that guy! Incredibly generous and always putting needs of others in front of his own.

Now he needs our help and here is why. The last ten years have not been kind to the Watt family due to ongoing health issues for Ingrid all but wiping out their savings.

In 2009, Ingrid was diagnosed with a rare auto immune disease that required on going and expensive medication and treatment to keep the disease in check.  In 2015, complications with the disease resulted in Ingrid becoming a double amputee. During all of this Andy was either at Ingrid's side or playing Mr. Mom to their kids keeping them busy with activities and helping them grow in all aspects of life.

Things were starting to look up when, unexpectedly, Andy was checked into the hospital mid-August with what looked like walking pneumonia. After several days of antibiotics and a battery of tests, it was discovered that Andy's breathing problems were from a mass on his lung. Andy was released from Headwaters Health Centre to await further testing.

Although the tests were done within a couple of weeks, Andy passed just 3 weeks after his first visit to the hospital.  And two days before Lindsay and Jennifer were to start their first day of high school. It turned out the aggressive lung cancer had already metastasized in his kidneys and liver, and his body could not keep up the fight.

Just when it looked like the Watt family was getting back on their feet, they lost their rock and their able bodied support. Ingrid is working, but without Andy's financial support they will be severely challenged moving forward.

Please join our community of caring by helping in any way you can, and together we can try to alleviate at least some of their immediate worries  and possibly brighten the future for both Lindsay and Jennifer. No amount is too little or too much.  All monies raised will go to help support Ingrid, Lindsay, Jennifer, and Andy's buddy their 14 year old dog Rory.

Andy was one of the nicest, kindest, compassionate people you could ever meet. He would always ready to help those in need, and now it is our time to help his family now that he is gone.  Every little bit will help the family avoid disaster and every little bit is incredibly appreciated.
