On September 4th I was involved in a grease fire which left me with 3rd degree burns on my right hand. I was cooking dinner for my girlfriend and I until the grease in the pan caught fire. Within minutes the fire grew, desperate to put it out, in a panic, I grabbed the pan and ran it outside. The momentum of me running out the house pushed the flames towards my hand and upon throwing it grease had splashed on my hand.
My girlfriend saved me, in less than 10 minutes she was able to get our two dogs crated and made sure the house and fire were out and safe before driving me to the hospital. On the way she helped me through a panic attack and kept me from passing out luckily we live close to the hospital as well.
The skin graft surgery was performed on Wednesday and by Friday I was released to go home because of the impending Hurricane Irma.
I am not able to go back to work for 4-6 weeks and I do not have health insurance or any benefits. I'm 28 years old and have been in the work force since high school. And just like so many of us I live paycheck to paycheck with no back up savings. I'm also stubborn and independent and a dear friend reached out and suggested GoFundMe. What I need is financial assistance for everyday expenses for the next 6-8 weeks. This accident has left me humbled and overwhelmed. My family and close friends have done so much already and I would appreciate any help you can give. Thank you.
