Here at 1st Choice Truck Lube, we consider our employees as family, and we have one of our employees, Andrew "Drew" Short, that has fallen severely ill and needs our help!
Drew had been sick for the past 3 weeks. He was treated for the flu at the ER one evening but never got better. That Friday he went in for a doctor visit and they called him Friday evening to go to the ER. His blood was (and is) thin and not clotting. ER did some tests and found he was having liver issues. They transported him via ground ambulance to Baylor in Dallas. His spleen was enlarged. His blood counts were low. His liver levels were high. He was yellow with jaundice. He has had some sort of virus and was assigned an entire team of doctors to work together to try to get him well. Drew ended up having a bone marrow biopsy, and was eventually diagnosed with HLH that was caused by mono... HLH is a very serious blood disorder, and to fight this blood disorder, Drew is to go through 8 weeks of inpatient chemo twice a week. He has now completed a few sessions of chemo so far, and has shown small victories of improvement but still has a long road ahead.
We want to help his family offset some of the medical expenses that are adding up and will continue to accumulate over the next couple months. We will try to update on our FB page or Amy (Drew's mom) can add updates to this gofundme page as she can
