Andre Blake passed away suddenly on October 12th in Brooklyn, New York. Originally from Trinidad and Tobago, he immigrated to New York as a teenager. He had recently turned 43. An intelligent man, described by his brother as the smartest man he ever knew, he was also a talented artist with a knack for painting with words and an affinity for illustration.
Andre is survived by his mother, Gloria, who lives in Miami, and two younger brothers in New York and Washington State. Andre's sudden passing has placed an unexpected burden on the family, but they are not the type to ask for help, and so I am reaching out on their behalf to those that may be able to spare even just a few dollars.
The goal of this campaign is to raise funds for cremation services in Brooklyn and a flight for his mother from Florida to New York for a small service. Anything not used or anything over our goal will be donated to a youth arts program in his memory.
Everyone says it, but it's true: every little bit helps. If you can't give, please feel free to share with those that might. In this time of grief, this family should not need to worry about how to bring this together, and any donation is appreciated beyond words.
