On January 15th a drunk driver going wrong way on the 405 Freeway in Los Angeles collided head-on with the SUV with our beloved Sempreboms inside. Mauricio (husband) and Yuri (son) were barely injured considering the seriousness of the accident.
Andrea on the other hand was saved by the mercy of God, and after 5 surgeries in 6 days (1 of them lasting more than 12 hours), one week on the ICU, 32 days in the hospital, we are so happy to see her going back home!
She is currently in a wheel chair recovering from multiple fractures in her arm, leg, and hip as well as healing from lacerations in her bladder and liver . Her husband Mauricio, who serves the country in the Navy, is taking care of her full time at home until they are able to have her accepted into a rehabilitation program. The recovery goal is to have her being able to walk again and eventually going back to work as a pre-school teacher, which may end up taking over 4 months (in an optimistic approach). So this is a good time for us to step in and help!
The expenses keep coming. Being out of work, without pay, with a lengthy (months) recovery ahead, and all the bills to pay, can be scary. We can ease the struggle taking part of their financial burden so they can focus on the road ahead, which includes countless hours of physical and occupational therapy as well as medical follow ups.
The accident hurt her body hard, the scars and long term issues may be lifelong, but her faith remains stronger than steel! Join us in this walk!
