An Italian Baseball Dream: Dirt to a Diamond

Hi, my name is Alejandro Romero. I'm raising money to help these kids achieve their dream of having a "real" baseball field to play on. These kids play baseball in the southern Italian town of Bari. Before every practice they spend a half hour transforming a derelict soccer field into a baseball diamond and then another 30 minutes turning it back into a soccer field once again after practice.

After years of persistence they have been given a few acres of abandoned agricultural land to use. On their own they have worked tirelessly to clear the land of bushes, shrubs and abandoned waste.

Now their goal is to transform this field into a regulation baseball diamond. Please give me a hand in helping them build their diamond in the rough.

Raccolgo fondi per aiutare questi ragazzi a realizzare il loro sogno di avere un vero campo da baseball dove giocare. Loro giocano a Noicattaro, un paese in provincia di Bari. Prima di ogni allenamento lavorano una mezz’ora per trasformare un polveroso campo di calcio in un “diamante” di baseball, ed alla fine serve un’altra mezz’ora per ripristinare il campo che condividono con una squadra di calcio.

Dopo anni di tenace impegno, hanno ricevuto un campo agricolo abbandonato da utilizzare: con il loro lavoro, da soli, lo hanno ripulito dai rifiuti, dalle erbacce e dalle pietre.

Ora il loro obiettivo è renderlo un vero campo di baseball, un “diamante” regolare. Se condividi anche tu un sogno, dammi una mano! Aiutiamoli a realizzare questo campo.
