An Exhibition Commemorating the Miners Strike
Tax deductible
Derbyshire Unemployed Workers Centre's are putting on an exhibition, ‘Solidarity and Community’ a commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the Miners’ Strike 1984-1985. It is being held in the Market Hall Assembly Rooms Chesterfield from Monday 4th March to Wednesday 27th March 2024, 10am to 4pm.
Supported by Chesterfield Borough Council the event will include unseen film footage from the time of the strikes, stories from striking miners and their families, poems and talks. The various beautiful banners from the NUM and Derbyshire Women's action Group will all be displayed proudly.
We are raising money to cover the costs of printing, leaflets, posters, transportation, equipment, showing films, and delivering lectures. We desperately need funds in order to put on a successful event.
This is a free event and with the funds raised Derbyshire Unemployed Workers' Centre's aim to take this exhibition on tour in 2024 around Derbyshire highlighting the incredible sacrifices made by members of our community to defend jobs.
Every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to us.
