The Downs Family has been through more in the last 10 months than most people go through in a life time.
A hard working middle class family that came together 8 years ago when Lori finally found her true love Ryan and he welcomed her children with open arms.
From the start they knew they wanted to grow their family! With all the love they had to give their kids, they knew they wanted to add at least one more.
Lori had never had any issues getting or staying pregnant….they thought their journey would be a short and happy one.
Little did they know that they would battle infertility and would need to undergo IVF to bring their Little miracle into this world. Lori and Ryan was so excited to see that plus sign on the pregnancy test and was over joyed to find out they were expecting a little Boy! They decided to name him Bryce Thomas.
From the start this pregnancy was different for Lori than her others. She was horribly sick and required multiple hospital stays for the entire pregnancy. Lori did everything the doctors recommended to give Bryce the best chance to make it to full term.
The pregnancy took a turn for the worse on January 23rd and both Lori and Bryce’s life was in danger. At only 25 weeks gestation, the doctors diagnosed Lori with a severe form of preeclampsia, in order to save both Lori and Bryce’s life and to give Bryce the best chance they decided that an emergency c-section was needed. On 1/23/2019 Bryce was born weighing in at 1lb 9 oz’s.
While the Downs Family knew their road ahead with Bryce and NICU life was going to be a long one they were willing to do whatever that had to in order to bring Bryce home.
Unfortunately tragedy struck and on 1/26/2019 Bryce took a turn for the worst and passed away in the loving arms of his parents.
Lori while dealing with healing from a C-section and post-partum was now dealing with saying goodbye to their little boy and planning a funeral for Bryce. Being the parents they are they looked ahead to 2019 and remained a pillar of strength not only for each other but for their kids.
Finally 2019 looked like it was turning around when Lori and Ryan learned that they were once again pregnant with a Baby Girl this time and WITHOUT the need of IVF.
This pregnancy was different then their last, Lori was feeling great. Again they were doing EVERYTHING the doctors recommended to ensure their Baby Girl was healthy and cared for.
On 11/18/2019 Lori started to experience issues and Ryan rushed her to Good Sam Hospital where she was hooked up to monitors and was reassured that everything with their little girl looked great. Due to her past pregnancy they prepared for Lori to stay at Good Sam as an inpatient for 11 weeks in-order for their little girl they had named Brylee to be monitored and be born healthy.
On 11/20/2019 the unimaginable happened and while Brylee was being monitored they could not find a heartbeat! At 9:59 pm once again Lori was being induced and delivered Brylee who was born sleeping. She was perfect at only 1lb 2oz at 25 weeks along. Lori had suffered a placenta tear which caused Brylee to passed away. Placenta tears happens in only 1% of pregnancies.
How much can one Family endure in 10 months?
During their 1st loss they never reached out for help financially. However the family is enduring this heartache and burden again, this time with the increased bills for the high risk doctor, the hospital stay and now the cost of laying another baby to rest.
The Downs family could really use our support during this time and in the days ahead while they try and figure out their new normal and heal both physically and emotionally.
The money from this Go Fund me will go towards increased medical bills for the family, funeral costs, and time off work.
