Amy & Hannah's campaign for Dementia UK

Amy Townsend and Hannah Smyth will be running the ABP Southampton 10K on Sunday 26th April 2020. We have chosen to raise money for Dementia UK, a charity close to our hearts as it has effected members of both our families.
Dementia UK provide specialist nurses, who work alongside the entire family during challenging and difficult times. They help to provide one-to-one care, expert guidance and practical solutions to assist in the day to day lives of those with dementia and their families. Nurses like those provides by Dementia UK allow families to live more positively and to face the challenges of each day with hope. Nurses work with people and families affected by all types of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, frontotemporal dementia and dementia with Lewy bodies. Dementia can be lonely and frightening, for the individual and their loved ones so support like this is essential but not always available.

Amy - I will be running the 10K in honor of my late Grandmother Lillian Townsend, who passed away from dementia in 2016. I will also be running in honor of Brian Millard and his Wife Margaret, who are as close to me as Grandparents and are currently living with the effects dementia can have on an individual and their loved one.
Hannah - My family have also experienced the effects of dementia. My great grandmother had dementia, which had a big impact on both her life and my Nan's life. Therefore, I would like to raise money for this charity in order to the help the fight against Dementia.
