Hi, I'm Rhianna Bowyer - Amy Marchman's oldest daughter. I'm fundraising to help my mom Amy reach their out-of-pocket maximum for insurance billing regarding the multiple surgeries, chemo, and radiation treatments she has received over the last year. We are hopeful the reconstruction surgery scheduled in October will be the last major medical expense in the road to recovery - we are so thankful for all of the help friends and family have given so far and are looking for more help get past this next bump so the insurance can pay the remaining expenses.
In June of 2022, Amy was diagnosed with stage three triple-negative breast cancer. It is an especially aggressive type that is resistant to three types of typical hormone-based therapy - her chemo, surgical, and radiation treatments have been aggressive to match. After six months of chemo Amy had a double mastectomy in February 2022 and had multiple lymph nodes removed from her left arm. Afterwards, she had a month of radiation which she took herself to and continued working. She sees a lymphedema specialist. Currently, she receives keytruda through the summer before the reconstruction surgery. She has been so strong and has continued working styling hair and taking care of our family and herself to the point her loved ones remind her not to overdo it as it is a balance between staying active while holding onto normalcy and dealing with the physical, emotional, mental and obviously financial toll.
We have applied for a few assistance programs specifically for the costly keytruda chemo drug. Amy and my Dad Paul are doing what they can to make changes to help with the finances - we are so close to the next goal of seeing this process through and are so thankful for everyone's help.
Amy and Paul have two daughters me and Scarlett who will be a senior and graduating May 2024. They also welcomed their first grandchild - my baby Juda who turned one in May. Thank you for reading and for your support.
Love,
The Marchman Family
