Laura Weinstein ha sido una guerrera y activista incansable. Siempre generosa con sus habilidades y sus conocimientos. Fundadora del GAAT (Grupo de Acción y Apoyo a Personas Trans) , una de las organizaciones trans más antiguas de Colombia y definitivamente una de las más fuertes y constantes en la lucha por mejorar la calidad de vida de las personas trans en el país. Ahora, Laura nos necesita. Este mes de marzo inició un tratamiento intensivo contra el cáncer que durará tres meses inicialmente. Aunque el tratamiento y las medicinas están cubiertas por el sistema de salud colombiano, Laura tendrá muchos otros gastos adicionales durante este tiempo, los cuales incluyen transporte diario a la clínica (por el riesgo de infecciones no puede usar transporte público), el pago a una persona que le haga las comidas (está en una dieta muy estricta) y la limpieza profunda de su casa porque debe estar en ambientes desinfectados. Estos gastos ascienden a aproximadamente $5'000.000.oo (2.500 USD).
Por eso, quienes conocemos su gran labor y hemos contado con su apoyo y amistad a lo largo de los años, nos hemos organizado para solicitar donaciones que le ayuden a cubrir estos gastos, pues en este momento Laura no cuenta con un salario fijo y durante el tratamiento no podrá trabajar.
Sin importar el valor, su donación permitirá que Laura pueda dedicarse plenamente a su recuperación con la mayor tranquilidad posible.

Now, Laura needs us. This March she began an intensive cancer treatment which initially will last three months. Even though Colombia's health care system covers the treatment and medicines, Laura will have to incur in several additional expenses during this time, which include: daily taxi to the hospital (she cannot use public transportation because of the risk of infections), payment for someone who cooks for her (her diet is very strict), and deep house cleaning because she has to be in sterilized spaces. These expenses add up to approximately 5 million Colombian pesos (2,500 USD).
This is why, those of us who know her amazing work and who have received her support and friendship through the years, have come together to request donations to help her cover those additional expenses, since right now Laura does not have a salary and will not be able to work while the treatment is taking place.
Regardless of the amount, your donation will allow Laura to fully focus on her recovery with as much ease as possible.
