Hey family and friends.
As most of you guys know, my son, Amir was born with stomach issues. At a week old, he was diagnosed with hirshsprungs disease. He had a colostomy placed at two weeks old. He then developed an infection that killed 8 inches of his small bowel. He has always been TPN dependent from malabsorption. He spent 6 months at a hospital.
A couple days after his first birthday, he was scheduled to get his colostomy reversed in hoping that his malabsorption would get better. He then developed another infection about a week after the surgery. He had a drain placed inside his belly to drain out the puss. He was on numerous antibiotics. The doctors then noticed he had a small leakage from putting his colon back together. They went back in and repared it. We got sent home a couple days after thinking the issue was resolved.
Unfortunately, we came back a week later. But this time it wasn't from the infection, it was from being constipated and throwing up his own stool. The doctors couldn't figure out why he was backed up. I mean he went from having diarrhea all his life to being constipated. They never really gave me a diagnosis. Some doctors said it was an ileus( when your bowels go to sleep and don't function), others said it was a bowel obstruction( when the intestines have a blockage that doesnt allow anything move past through). The doctors ordered Xrays, CT scans and barium enemas. They cleared him out by inserting NG tubes and tubes up his bottom to clear him out. They fed him and waited for a bowel movement. So he did and sent us home with miralax and reglan. We came back with the same issues. Now, this time they did a colonoscopy. They noticed his colon has no motility. All the doctors are clueless of why this is happening.
We have the option to transfer Amir to a different hospital. But we need your help.
