Amigos de las Américas - Phoenix

Amigos de las Américas inspires and builds young leaders through collaborative community development and immersion in cross-cultural experiences. This year the Phoenix Chapter of Amigos is preparing 4 teens from Phoenix, AZ for full-immersion cultural exchange and community service projects in Costa Rica, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama.

The Phoenix Chapter of Amigos tries to assure that no youth is unable to participate based on family income.  The youth volunteers and parents work hard to contribute  to group fundraising that supports all participants.

Your contribution will go towards supporting the volunteers' training and materials, travel, and helps fund the community-based initiatives in country once they arrive.

Program Impact
Amigos de las Américas gives young people an opportunity to gain life experience and leadership training over 4 to 9 weeks of living and working with communities across the Americas. Program participants work with Latin American peers to design and lead community projects related to areas such as public health, youth engagement, and environmental sustainability.

AMIGOS training prepares participants to manage projects, organize community members, solve problems, accept responsibility, and learn from others. Program participants live with a host family in a community, experiencing day to day life as a local, not a tourist.

Many present-day challenges can be solved through more effective community engagement. AMIGOS is helping to make this a reality by building the skills for young people to become critically engaged leaders and active global citizens.
