Amie’s Cancer Fight

Hello my name is Amie, I’m a fun, loving, kind and caring 28 year old mental health support worker. 

I have a wonderful partner Josh and a mischievous dog named Chester, we bought our first home together 2 years ago and life seemed to be running smoothly. 

However, over last year or so I started having a few health complaints, night sweats, migraines, shingles and a lump appeared under my armpit. 

Eventually this year I checked in with my GP who referred me for an ultrasound, then it was another ultrasound and a biopsy. 

As it turns out I’d been unknowingly living with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. 

I’m stage 2 and my prognosis right now looks good, time and treatment will tell. 

I’ve had to undergo IVF treatment to preserve my fertility and now I’m facing 8 months of treatment. 

Two months clinical study which may help the chemo work better, prevent a future relapse and if proven to work it could help others in the future

Then I’ll be having 6 months of good old fashioned chemotherapy.

I know Josh and our families will do everything to support us throughout this journey but in reality having cancer is expensive, the wigs, the hospital visits, the time off work, the recovery and everything else is going to put a financial strain on Josh and I. 

I’m staying at work for as long as I physically can but when I need to stop my sick pay will soon drop from full pay to half pay in 3 months and after 5 months we’re on our own. I thought I was too young to take out health insurance and now nowhere will insure me until I’ve been in remission for so many years.

I know we have amazing family and friends who want to help out so I thought this might be the easiest way to provide an avenue for those who want to help us.
