Support Amber's Fight Against AML
Donation protected
I wanted to share what has been going on with Amber. Right before Christmas she was diagnosed with a very rare type of AML or acute myeloid Leukemia. Granulocytic sarcoma makes up like 3% of AML cases.
She has undergone some intense chemo and luckily is currently in remission !!! This is just temporary as this type of cancer comes back. The next steps are what they look at to cure. So after much deliberation with her oncologist she has decided to go the transplant route. This gets her the 60% 5 year survival rate as opposed to the chemo only route giving her a 20-40% 5 year survival.
Her transplant is scheduled for April 11th. A selfless 26 yr old guy is going to donate his stem cells. She will get one more high dose round of chemo for a week and once her immune system is obliterated they will replace her crappy immune system with his. Then the real fun begins. The first 100 days are crucial. This is when people who are not going to survive transplants have complications.
We are asking for positive thoughts and prayers for her during this time. Also, Amber has always been career driven. She opened her own Women's Health Practice. Since being diagnosed she has not been able to work and is a single mother to Dylan, her 5yr old son. We would love to ease the burden of all those bills that are piling up for them. Please help in any way you can. We will also have a meal drop off set up and/or if you are local even just stopping in to visit and giving Amber some help around the house.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We are grateful for your donations.
