Amazon Fire Mitigation in the Rainforest

The Amazon provides all we need: oxygen, life, and happiness.

This year, the Amazon Rainforest in Brazil has experienced an unprecedented amount of fires (about 75,000) that continue to destroy Rondonia, Matto Grosso, and many other regions in the South of Brazil. Today is the 17th day of continuous fires in the Amazon rainforest.

I have contacted tribal leaders representing the Guarany Mbya, Asurini do Tocantin, and Para Tembe Tenetehar tribes. One of them,  Kwarahy Tembé Tenetehar  of Para State, has told me that they cannot contact any of the tribes in other regions due to the fires and pollution from them. He said the federal government of Brazil, after dismantling the government’s environmental protections (Link ), is not doing anything to stop the fires. The local tribes do not have any financial support to stop these fires and have also lost their only home

I live in NYC and work as a software engineer which allows me to enjoy life and live comfortably. I have traveled to the Amazon and cannot believe this is happening to such an important part of this world. I cannot imagine the pain of seeing everything around you on fire or burning to death as thousands of animals have, so I have decided to take time to help these tribes raise funds to take action.

After reading the news of the Bolivian government has hired Global Supertanker Services (120-250k per day to clear forest fires) to save part of the Amazon in Bolivia. This fundraiser can help cover the cost of hiring them to stop these fires from expanding further. If the goal to fund the Global Supertanker Services fire extinguisher is not met the funds will go directly to the reforestation efforts to the tribes most affected in Rondonia and Matto Grosso through CINCIA. CINCIA  (Centro de Innovacion Cientifica Amazonica) has already reforested the Peruvian Amazon - which you can read about in this study covered by The Guardian - Link to Article .

1) The way i got in touch with tribes in Para, Brazil is though Facebook. I friend requested and have been messaging with local tribe members who have confirmed the immediate need they have is for the fires to be stopped. That is why this fundraiser was created, to be able to fund the rental of a firefighter plane.

Goal #1 :
- If we reach the goal of 150,000 dollars to be able to rent a firefighter Boeing 747 (which runs for 120-250k per day) , we will rent it given that Global Supertanker Services will be providing services in Bolivia starting August 22, 2019  -> http://globalsupertanker.com/
Goal #2 :
- If we do not reach the goal of 150,000 dollars to be able to rent a firefighter Boeing 747, we will provide the funds directly to http://cincia.wfu.edu/ and the volunteers who will perform reforestation efforts in the state of Rondonia and Matto Grosso.

This campaign is to help stop the current fires and aid in reforestation in the state of Rondonia, Br and Matto Grosso, Br.
