In only two 2 short weeks I will be well on my way to what I think is going to be the most incredible experience of my life. My mule and I will be traveling over 4000 miles to compete for the title of NHSRA Queen at the National High School Finals Rodeo in Rock Springs, Wyoming. We will join queen contestants from 42 states, 5 providences and Australia.
I was very honored to be crowned the very first EVER Miss Maryland High School Rodeo Queen at our state finals in June. Because Maryland is a fledgling organization, there are no funds set aside to help the rodeo team members on their journey. I have had a very short time to prepare to represent my state to the very best of my ability at the National competition. The contest will consist of public speaking, modeling, personal interview, impromptu question, written test and a Horsemanship pattern (riding). Besides the expense of competing in the actual events, we will also incur expenses such as fuel, RV parking, stalls, printing for tear sheets, banners for decorations, golf cart rental (RV is 4 miles from stall), car rental (the competition is off site and we are in a RV) and the list goes on.
My Mom, sister and I have been dying jeans and shirts, sewing, gluing and designing my outfits to help keep costs as minimal as possible but the reality is that I need 11 outfits for the competition. I am also taking riding lessons to refine my horsemanship test. Additionally, I have taken modeling lessons and have enrolled the help of a pageant coach. I am trying to be as best prepared as I possibly can! I believe if you are going to do something then you need to dive in with your whole heart!
While I greatly appreciate all of the financial and emotional support my parents have provided, I have made it my personal goal to raise as much sponsorship money as I can to offset the great costs associated with this experience. I have already garnered a lot of local support to get my campaign off the ground. However, I would like to reach out to a larger audience and humbly ask for your help as I reach for my dreams.
I am still $5,000 away from being able to pay for 2/3 of the trip by myself and time is running out.
If each of my nearly 800 Facebook followers sponsored only $5 that would add up quickly to $4000!
