Alyssa's Duet Bike Fund

Please help me raise money for the Mendez Family, specifcially for 14-year old Alyssa (who Lisa & Anthony call Angel Face) so she can get a "Duet Bike." This is a bike made for special needs kids. They took it for a test spin at the 2014 Abilities Expo and Alyssa loved it, however the bike was out of their price range. 

Alyssa has spastic quadriplegia cerebral palsy, is blind in her left eye and also suffers from a seizure disorder. She is currently in a wheelchair and does not walk, crawl or talk.  Although Alyssa is non-verbal, she loves to be around others and is always pointing to go for a ride in the car first thing when her mom or dad walk in the door from work. She loves to give high-fives and her smile is contagious to all those around her. Despite enduring so many surgeries and obstacles throughout her young life, Alyssa is full of life and full of love. 

Recently, Lisa entered Alyssa into "The Great Bike Giveaway" contest, however she didn't win one of the bikes. Please help me raise money for them to order a bike, which will allow them to spend quality time as a family and enjoy a family bike ride together...something they've never done before!

The bike costs about $5,000 plus shippng and taxes. The extra amount requested is so the family can have extra money to purchase an auto access seat for their Toyota van since Alyssa is getting too big for anyone to lift in and out of the vehicle on a regular basis. The seat rotates ninety degrees, then extends from the vehicle and lowers to a convenient transfer height, making for easy entry and exit, therefore providing back-saving assistance with the loading and unloading.
